Samsung has already unveiled the Galaxy S8 and its higher variant in March 2017 to great acclaim, and the new smartphones boast of some of the best features that are seen in today’s date. However, nothing in the world of technology remains stagnant for too long, and the same has been the case with the Galaxy series. Shortly after the release of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, tech enthusiasts have already started speculating over the next possible entry in the flagship series, namely the Samsung Galaxy S9. More specifically, we wonder when Samsung will set the Galaxy S9 release date.
Coming to what is to be expected from it, there is very little information on that front. This is all but natural, as the South Korean conglomerate has only recently released the Galaxy S8 and is currently working around building the hype surrounding their upcoming flagship in their phablet line-up. The latter release is especially crucial, as the Note 7 gave rise to raging controversies after the battery explosion mishap that caused the company billions in losses. And as we all know, the follow-up to last year’s Note device, the Galaxy Note 8, is coming out later this year.
So in this light, it is quite obvious that Samsung will hold out on information related to the upcoming Galaxy S9 smartphone. But that is not to say that the company is not working on it at present. There are a bunch of upgrades that are already expected from the Samsung Galaxy S9. But at the moment, we are more focused on when we can expect the Galaxy S9 release date to be. So let us take a look at all the past release dates related to franchise to see if we can come to any conclusion regarding the next one. Go through the chart below for reference.
Samsung Galaxy S All Editions Release Date History
|Galaxy S||June 4, 2010|
|Galaxy S2||May 2, 2011|
|Galaxy S3||May 29, 2012|
|Galaxy S4||April 27, 2013|
|Galaxy S5||April 11, 2014|
|Galaxy S6||June 12, 2015|
|Galaxy S7||March 11, 2016|
|Galaxy S8||April 21, 2017|
|Galaxy S9||March or April 2018 (Tentative)|
So as we can see from the dates above, it makes sense to derive that the Galaxy S9 smartphone will be released either during the first quarter or early in the second quarter of 2018. But if the release date of S8 is anything to go by then we’d say that a delay could be on the cards.
Samsung Galaxy S9: Could it Arrive at the MWC 2018?
It has already been announced that the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2018 will be held from 26 February to 1 March 2018 in Barcelona. Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy S7 on the sidelines of the 2016 MWC, and the phone was made available in the market for purchase from March in the same year. But the tech giant skipped the 2017 MWC for the launch of the next in the line – the Galaxy S8. After being notably absent at the Mobile World Congress, the device was launched in a separate event in New York on March 29. So it’s possible that the Samsung Galaxy S9 could be launched after the MWC 2018. On the other hand, it’s also possible that they decide to unveil the new flagship at the MWC event. So at this point, the predicting the release date of Galaxy S9 is pretty dicey.
As to when we can actually start seeing some clues about the Galaxy S9 Release Date, Samsung’s packed schedule for the rest of 2017 suggests that it will be a while before we can get any positive insights. But we can assure you that whenever something surfaces, we will be the first ones to let you know. So don’t forget to bookmark this page for more accurate information.
